I believe it is our job to travel through each season completely focused on God: perfecting ourselves by His grace! Make God a part of every day and live according to His plan. God is our Father and our Saviour in all the seasons. In the season of busyness, find time to nourish your soul. Believers face the same challenges as non believers. He doesn’t promise a storm free life, but He promises to be an anchor in the storm.
Winter is definitely the coldest season of the year but before spring we need to conceive winter. Even in cold there can be beauty! When the flakes start falling a blanket of snow soon covers everything around us. Once you step outside that frigid air seeps deep inside, chilling your bones, making your teeth chatter, turning your nose red as the cold air stings your cheeks. You can hear your boots crunching in the snow but the smell of pine needles is intoxicating, the air feels fresh and clean. It feels so peaceful and quiet among the trees. You can see and appreciate the beauty of a snow covered landscape, as you wrap your scarf tighter around your face. The snow is entirely made up of delicate, beautifully designed snowflakes.
After what seems like a long cold winter you start hearing the happy melody of birds singing. The snow is nearly melted, you hear the sound of the last frost crackling under foot, and the buds are spouting on the trees. Things bloom and flourish, hope abounds. Spring invites the swaying blooms above the sea of foliage. You see butterflies and dragonflies, daisies and tulips, the warm kisses of sunlight and the gentle drops of rain. It is important to keep a sense of wonder, like that of a small child. We often forget as we grow older that we can remain playful and whimsical. Spring signifies what is new in our lives. These changes can challenge and motivate us as well as scare us! Essentially, these thoughts, ideas and strategies give you a reason to keep going.
Somersaulting from spring into summer consist of relaxing at the beach, sand between your toes, floppy hats and sunglasses! Summer is all about longer, warmer and brighter days. I will admit summers are spectacular. The glorious hot weather, the brightly lit stars, the sounds of crickets chirping, while eating ice cream and enjoying melting popsicles! Who doesn’t enjoy the sounds and tastes of summer? Huddled around a bonfire and roasting marshmallows as you hear the popping and crackling of wood. Summer is the time between sowing and reaping, it’s about having fun, connecting with those who matter most. Summer is often a reflection of what we learned in our Christian walk.
Autumn has something for everyone. It’s my favourite time of year. Autumn transports my mind back to sweet childhood memories. Autumn is the time in life of shedding away, to allow God to fulfill his purpose in our lives. The Bible says there is a season for everything. If only we could embrace the seasons of our lives, as willingly as we embrace the seasons of the year! Each season represents something new and inviting, it’s our journey towards wholeness in the Christian walk.
