Ownership was something other than what they were looking to do any time soon. Dr. Barnes lives in Port Perry with her family and has seen the extreme need for Veterinary care in not only Port Perry but north Durham as a whole. After hearing of Southside Pet Clinic closing, we began discussions with the previous owner, Dr. Jim Brown, about acquiring the practice. We are extremely excited to be able to offer the area some more access to care for their pets. The way we want to practise medicine is through Collaborative, Compassionate and Individualized care.

Individualized: We believe that every pet is unique, and their Veterinary care should be too. Every pet's lifestyle, routine and preferences will guide their preventive care recommendations and treatment plan.

Collaborative: Just as every pet is unique, every family is, too. They consider pet owners an integral part of a pet's healthcare team. They are committed to clear, accessible communication and transparent pricing to ensure families can make informed decisions. Together, they will create treatment plans for your pet that fit your values, your family's lifestyle and your financial plan. Compassionate: Pets are family, and here, they will always be treated that way. Every member of our team is committed to compassionate care for animals and the people behind them. Our team is committed to fear-free techniques and will always go that extra step for the patients in their care. They promise that you will always be treated with kindness and respect. They are here to help you through every love-filled moment of your pet's life. Their team is truly committed to you and your pets.

Local is extremely important to them. During their renovations and preparations to open, they have endeavoured to use local businesses for everything. They have used a local electrician, plumber, HVAC and mechanical services, paving company, sign company, clothing and embroidery, printing services, flooring and installation and have ordered food from most of the independent local restaurants for ourselves, their staff and renovation team.

Everyone has spent months renovating and preparing the clinic to open. They are proud to use the space of somewhere that has been a Veterinary clinic for a very long time, but to bring modern technology and medicine to the space. They have built a state-of-the-art dental and dental surgery suite and a separate general surgery suite. They have technology throughout the clinic to improve patient monitoring, charting and record-keeping. We have brand-new and state-of-the-art in-house lab services and immediate access to specialists to review all of our lab results. We have a brand new X-ray machine, as well as a brand new dental X-ray machine, as well as access to radiologists to review results. They also have a brand new wireless ultrasound machine and therapeutic laser.
