JAMES HOUGHTON USC
UXBRIDGE: Several members of the Uxbridge Swim Club (USC) qualified for and recently attended the 2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC). The long course (50M) national event took place from August 1st to 6th. Here are the highlights:
Chloe Walker, Swimming as a 13-year-old in the 13-14 division, placed third in the 1500 Free and the 400 Free. She also placed fourth in the 200 Free and the 800 Free. Chloe is officially ranked 1st overall in Canada for 13-year-olds in the 22-23 season in the 200, 400 and 800m freestyle.
Hannah Cornish is a USC Alumni swimming in the 18 and over category. She placed second in the 50 Free, sixth in the 200 Free and seventh in the 100 Free.
USC was also represented in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay which consisted of Haseeb Tariq, Chloe Walker, Hannah Cornish and Ethan Sneath - who together broke the USC club record in a time of 3:49.32.
Our small but mighty women's team managed to finish first overall in Durham Region, ninth in Ontario and 26th nationally out of Swim Canada's 350+ swim teams!
