UXBRIDGE: Members of council recently received an update from the 1st Uxbridge Scouts on their trip earlier this year to Iceland.

“It was just a really cool experience just realizing you’re in Iceland. This is pretty cool,” Kathryn Marlatt shared when talking about the first day of the trip's activities which happened in July.

She noted the group saw “many different waterfalls” and made a day out of seeing as many waterfalls as they could. The group also experienced hot springs and geysers.

The trip saw 2200 scouts from across the world visit the European country.

“Constant rain for the first three days, but it didn’t dampen our mood,” Ms. Marlatt explained. “It was so much fun.”

The trip also featured campfires, friendly competitions and chances to mingle with scouts from across the world.

“It built a lot of strong bonds between one another,” Ms. Marlatt said, about the time the Uxbridge scouts got to spend with each other on the trip.

The trip ended with a closing ceremony featuring songs, skits and games. Ms. Marlatt noted one of the challenges of the trip was dealing with the number of dietary needs of each of the scouting members.

“Some skills we learned were perseverance, leadership, adaptability and teamwork,” Ms. Marlatt stated.
