Uxbridge Bruins open the 2019-20 PJHL season this weekend

UXBRIDGE: The long wait is finally over! The defending Orr Division and Cougar Cup champion Uxbridge Bruins officially defend their titles on Friday night for the first half of a rare back-to-back weekend homestand at the Bear Den. The Bruins will look for a bit of good luck on Friday, September 13th, as they open the 2019-20 PJHL season at the Bear Den against the Amherstview Jets. The action gets underway at 7:45 p.m., with a special championship banner ceremony. On Saturday night, the Bruins are back in action at the Bear Den with the defending Clarence Schamlz Cup provincial champion Napanee Raiders in town for a 7:45 p.m. match-up. The new season opens with renewed expectations for the Bruins, with the team making several key additions over the course of the summer. In goal, the team will look to somehow replace Ryan McConkney and have signed a dynamic duo to fill his pads. The Bruins will open the season with 16year old Cam Smith and veteran back stopper Jordan Yaremchuk splitting time in goal. Smith, a recent draft pick of the London Knights was among the final roster cuts for the perennial OHL powerhouse at their training camp. The Bruins recently named their leadership group for the 2019-20 season, with a strong veteran presence. Defenceman Adam Turner will serve as Captain. Justin Bennett, Toby Cooper, and Cameron Moffatt will serve as Assistant Captains.
