DARRYL KNIGHT The Standard

For the first time in franchise history, the Uxbridge Bruins will kick off their Provincial Junior Hockey League home schedule on a Saturday night, marking a new chapter for the team.

The much-anticipated home opener is set for Saturday, September 21st, as the Bruins host the defending Orr Division champion, Clarington Eagles, at 6:15 p.m., at the Bear Den.

To celebrate this historic event, the Bruins are inviting the community to join in on the festivities, with a special offer for local youth sports teams. Players from youth sports teams can enjoy free admission, when they wear their team jerseys, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

The night promises to be an exciting one, both on and off the ice, as the Bruins look to start their home campaign strong. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team, in what promises to be a thrilling showdown against a familiar rival. The Bruins have been busy in the off-season, making a number of key acquisitions, to bolster the lineup for another run at an Orr Division title. Recently, the team completed a trade with the Elliot Lake Vikings, to bring in goaltender Eamon Callaghan, who led the Under-18 Markham Waxers to an appearance at the Telus Cup National ‘AAA’ Championships last season and was named outstanding goaltender in the Central Region.

The Bruins season officially begins on Friday, September 20th, in Keswick, with a 7:30 p.m. Match-up, against the Georgina Ice.

Next week, the Bruins will return to their familiar Friday night schedule, with games starting at 7:45 p.m.

Gather your jerseys and gear up for an unforgettable night of hockey action and community spirit, as the Bruins ring in another season of junior hockey, in the community.
