Life is about risk. It’s about making choices, as to which direction we want to go. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. Many artists I know have put off their dream for fear of what people might think. Being an artist isn’t associated with “a real job,” by those not familiar with the art world. I took a risk and followed my dream, and I’m glad I did.
You can go through life, working, and really dislike what you do. Let’s face it; a dream can be frivolous. In my mind, it’s frivolous to spend life being unhappy. I took a chance and pursued my dream to become an artist. No, it doesn’t happen overnight, but with patience and persistence, it can happen. Two years ago, I never would have imagined having my own show, but I have one. I never imagined selling my art, but I am. I never imagined being taken seriously as an artist, but I am. This is not just a dream for me; it is now a reality. I have received the uttermost support from family and friends. It’s more than a dream; this is what I’m meant to do.
Life is a risk. I was more afraid of not trying and decided I didn’t want to live like that. There is no room for self-doubt! If I’m bad at it, I’ll work to improve. I’m dedicated to my art because it makes me happy. The only person standing in your way is you. If you want to achieve your dream, then follow your art.
My first show is at the Kent Farndale Gallery, in January of 2023. I encourage you to come to see it. If I can make my dream happen, so can you.
Happy painting!
