DURHAM: 54 year-old Spencer Ford is running to be Durham’s next MPP as part of the New Blue Party.
“I am honoured to be running as the MPP candidate for The New Blue Party, for the riding of Durham in the upcoming provincial election in June 2022. I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, BC. I have always believed in justice, equal rights, moral integrity, and a sense of duty to my community and my country,” read a bio for Mr. Ford on the party’s website.
Mr. Ford joined the Canadian Armed Forces when he was 18 years old.
“I swore an oath to defend this country from foreign and domestic enemies. I was assigned to the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) as an infantryman. I served in Germany as part of NATO from 88-92 and Yugoslavia from 94-95 as part of the UN Peacekeeping Forces. I received three medals: The Canadian Declaration, The NATO Special Service Medal and The Yugoslavia Peacekeeping Medal,” the bio states.
Mr. Ford has worked for the Toronto Police Services and Durham Regional Police Service.
Jim Karahalios is the leader of the New Blue Party and the party’s website states governments “should demonstrate accountability, transparency, and integrity while acting in the best interests of its citizens.” The party looks to create a “competitive market economy that rewards initiative and innovation, values ethical transactions, protects private property, and ensures security and privacy.” The party also believes “parents are the primary educators and caregivers of their children.”
