We continue to carry the torch of kindness, care, compassion, and creativity. Thank you to the Prayer Shawl Knitting Group who knit Pocket Prayer shawls with a prayer enclosed, and delivered them to many doors in the surrounding area. Thank you also to the Seagrave United Church for the lovely carnations, and to the creative artists who left beautifully painted stones at the Seagrave mailboxes on Henrietta and River St., and at the River St. Bridge. Another Drive-By Rally organized by Craig Beacock and Committee, took place on May 9th. They also supported the local Food Bank with food donations (the list is endless), with each showing their love and appreciation. Each year in the past, the Seagrave Church partnered with Otter Greenhouses for a fundraiser, but this year Otter’s is doing a fundraiser for the Port Perry Foodbank. When you plan on purchasing your flowers, Otter’s would appreciate food donations to the end of the season. Happy Birthday wishes to Maureen (Tobin) Coxworth on the 8th, Chris Acton on the 14th, Dale Goddard on the 15th, Jack Redshaw on the 17th, and Ashleigh Finn on the 19th. May 16th is Love a Tree Day. Give your tree a hug as they enable us to breath. May 17th is World Telecommunication Day. Where would we be without all the communication devices to which we have access, especially now during this pandemic? This is the 5th week after Easter. Jesus is the foundation of the Church and Community. The Scripture reading, John 14:1 reads, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” This Scripture encourages us to consider the way in which the Holy Spirit has been, and is still active in the Christian community and our lives. If you wish personal prayers, grocery or medication pick up, contact Minister Stephanie at gspastorcharge@gmail.com, or ssutchrichmond@gmail.com, or call 905-718-8086. Virtuall Sunday services are available on our website, seagrave-church.com, for your viewing. If you wish to donate non-perishable food items to the Scugog Food Bank, call Doug at 905-852-7057 or email: dougw.lcs@gmail.com. Modern technology is bringing us together in a way we never imagined possible. Let us remember the lessons we are learning and how important it is to continue to keep the lines of communication open, even well into the future.
