Continued from page 7.

Next, we are looking for feedback from property owners and the business community regarding grant and incentive programs for our Downtown. Both the Downtown and Employment Area Lands CIP programs will promote and attract business investments and economic development. The Community Improvement Plan will: • Stimulate public and private sector investment; • Strengthen the Township by attracting industries leading to increased competitiveness; • Attract employment development that will off-set the large residential tax base through increased non-residential tax base; and • Contribute to the attraction, retention or development of a highly skilled and knowledgeable local workforce.

I think of it as a way to keep Scugog competitive and sustainable by creating a strong workforce, job choices for our young people that will in turn, strengthen the community. If you are a property or business owner in the downtown, please visit scugog.ca/CIP to give your input.

Mayor Bobbie Drew
