Scugog: Scugog Council for the Arts’ 2019 Annual Juried Show is approaching quickly! This year, our highly esteemed juror Kent Farndale will assess all forms of art in our open juried exhibit kicking off August 3rd at the Scugog Arts Gallery, carrying on until August 31st. The gallery at Scugog Arts will be open Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 am to 4 pm. Juried shows are a great opportunity for artists to showcase their art, win prize money, and possibly have their pieces sold. The Best in Show prize is $300, second place prize is $200, Honorable Mention winners get $100, and finally, the winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive a gift certificate!
Kent Farndale’s history of civic involvement began in the early 1970s when she successfully campaigned to keep and restore Port Perry Town Hall into a theatre for live performance. She even sang there in the 1980s as a member of the Scugog Choral Society. Kent helped to create an art gallery when Scugog built a new library in 1982. After 10 years of organizing the gallery, the Scugog Memorial Library Board paid tribute to her, naming the gallery in her honour, and establishing the Kent Farndale Bursary for the Arts. Kent helped in the early days of the formation of the Scugog Council for the Arts and has long been an Advisor to the Board. We are lucky to have Kent here with us for this exhibition!
Don’t miss out on the wonderful pieces! Everyone is welcome!
