Roar by the Shores show to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: Plans are currently underway for the 2023 Roar by the Shores Car show to return to its original format in time for its 10th anniversary.

This year's show will be held on Water Street, in Port Perry, on Sunday, June 25th, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The event had been replaced with a poker-run fundraiser for the last couple of years.

"We stayed alive; we stayed connected. We had a couple of good years of poker runs, and now we're back to our normal Roar by the Shores event," organizer Dave Roulston told The Standard.

Organizers are hoping for this year's show to have 400 classic cars. For anyone looking to participate, pre-registration is $15, and can be done online through 'eventbrite.ca.' Registration on the day of the event costs $20 per car. There will be a free gift for the first 100 pre-registered vehicles.

Proceeds from the event will be supporting the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.

"I just want the people to realize how fortunate we are that we have a hospital and a team of people there who are in our backyard. It is unbelievable; it is special. We need everybody to dig in and help, one way or another," Mr. Roulston stressed.

There will be five 'Grand Participant Prize Draws' at the event, with prizes including a Vacuum Sealed Steak Package from Herrington's Quality Butchers, an Old Flame Brewery 'passport kit,' a Die Hard Service Jack from Port Perry Auto Supply, an 80 piece toolkit from Mark Willes Automotive and a 7.5 cubic foot shop refrigerator from Homestead Furniture and Appliances.
