KAWARTHA LAKES: The Ross Memorial Hospital’s (RMH) Board of Governors is pleased to report the progress of the Board’s search for the next President and CEO. Ross Memorial’s Chief Operating Officer Veronica Nelson was appointed Interim President and CEO after former President and CEO, Dr. Bert Lauwers announced he was leaving the role to take a position at the Scarborough Health Network. The Board of Governors formed a Selection Committee and issued a request for proposal to engage executive recruitment consultants to assist with the search for a new President and CEO. Earlier this summer, Phelps Executive Search began an extensive consultation process to develop a strong understanding of the key strengths, challenges, and opportunities facing RMH. This included interviews with the Board of Governors, the senior leadership team and administration, physicians, union leaders and several community-based stakeholders, as well as a survey of all hospital staff. Using this analysis, Phelps Executive Search developed a character profile of an ideal candidate, and what actions by the new President over a two year period would constitute success. The RMH Selection Committee has approved the candidate profile and an advertisement for the President and CEO position has now been posted on several sites. The Selection Committee will review a long list of candidates early this fall, followed by several rounds of interviews. It is the Board’s intention to make a decision on the chosen candidate by the end of the year, with a start date early in 2020. “The responsibilities of a Hospital President are significant and impact everyone living in the City of Kawartha Lakes, so it’s imperative we conduct a comprehensive search for the best candidate to lead our hospital,” said Val Harris, RMH Board Chair. “We’re confident that this the process will help us to maintain strong leadership at the Ross Memorial, and we look forward to announcing our next President and CEO in the coming months.” Those wishing to see the posting may read it on the RMH website, www.rmh.org. Anyone with questions about the process may contact Jayson Phelps or Dr. Frank Markel at Phelps Executive Search at 416-364-6229.
