Renowned classical guitarist Emma Rush to perform in Bobcaygeon

KAWARTHA LAKES: The internationally recognized classical guitarist, Emma Rush will be performing, on Friday, September 13th, at 7 p.m., in Bobcaygeon’s Christ Anglican Church. Ms. Rush has performed world-wide, with appearances at: the Shanghai Guitar Festival; the Iserlohn Guitar Symposium, in Germany; and Festival de Guitarras Lagos de Moreno, in Mexico, in her roster of prestigious performances.

The Hamilton-based guitarist will be performing an eclectic mix of music. Her program includes: rare works from the 1800s, written by women for the guitar; music written just for her, by Canadian composers; and some of her favourites from the repertoire: Annette Kruisbrink’s flamenco-inspired Hommage a Paco de Lucia and José Luis Merlin’s dazzling Suite del Recuerdo.

Ms. Rush will be in town for the Pigeon Lake Guitar Retreat which she founded, as a way for players to spend quality time with their guitars in the natural beauty of the Kawarthas, while receiving expert guitar instruction. Although she travels the world, Ms. Rush said she loves touring in Canada. “I’m excited to play in Bobcaygeon for the first time! There’s something special about playing in small towns, off the beaten path. The concerts are more intimate and you can really connect with the audience.”

Emma Rush is considered one of Canada’s pre-eminent classical guitarists. She has been featured on CBC’s In Concert and About Time, and in Soundboard magazine and Fretboard Journal. Cashbox Magazine writes, “She is well known for her innovative style and magnetic stage presence. Her tone and sound, combined with flawless technique, are all part of the Emma Rush experience.”

Tickets for the concert are $20.00 and are available at the door, or they can be reserved by emailing info@emma-rush.com
