KAWARTHA LAKES: The City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment is looking into a case of suspected mischief, on Simcoe Street.

According to an OPP press release, the incident occurred on Friday, August 16th, at about 10 p.m.

“Members, from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment, of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a vehicle being struck by a piece of asphalt, while travelling on Simcoe Street, near River Street,” the release explained.

The OPP stated, the investigation is ongoing. Nobody was injured during the incident but the vehicle is reported to have “significant damage to the passenger side.”

When asked for further comment, Provincial Constable Courtney Sherk told The Standard, the asphalt was “believed to be thrown at the vehicle.” In terms of the damage, she said, it is “unknown how much, dollar wise, [costs would be] without having it appraised.” The OPP declined to provide information on the make of the vehicle.
