DURHAM/KAWARTHA: The Ontario government is moving forward with vaccination requirements to enter certain settings. This also involves launching a vaccine certificate and a digital vaccine app.
On Wednesday, September 1st, the government of Ontario announced, as of September 22nd, people will be required proof of full vaccination (meaning two dose) to enter restaurants and bars (except for on outdoor patios), this also includes nightclubs, banquet halls and conference/convention centres, “facilities used for sports and fitness activities,” sporting events, casinos, theatres and cinemas, and horse racing venues.
“Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with a doctor’s note until recognized medical exemptions can be integrated as part of a digital vaccine certificate. Children who are 11 years of age and younger and unable to be vaccinated will also be exempted from these requirements,” an Ontario government press release explained.
The press release added, “Ontarians currently have access to a paper or PDF vaccine receipt [which] includes all relevant information to prove they are fully vaccinated.” This can be downloaded or printed on the province’s booking portal, at covid19.ontariohealth.ca. Residents can also request access to this information by calling 1-833-943-3900. Along with proof of vaccination, Ontario residents will also have to provide photo identification.
Health Minister Christine Elliott stated, the province is also working on “an enhanced vaccine certificate with a unique QR code.”
“This could be kept on your phone to easily and conveniently show you’ve been vaccinated, when needed,” Minister Elliott said. “The province will also launch a new app to make it easier for businesses to verify your digital vaccine receipt, while protecting your privacy.” [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
