New Year, New Adventures

Lauren Walker of all Fit/All Ages Gym

Welcome to 2021! I Hope your holidays were full of joy and happiness. I’d like to start this year on a positive note. Seeing as we are in the midst of another lock-down, I’ve decided to share what I’ve been doing to keep active.

I received a new pair of snowshoes for Christmas. I’ve been traipsing around the yard as of late, trying to get used to the feel of them. I find they are super light and quite easy to work with. I can’t wait until we get a huge dump of snow so I can take them out. It’s wonderful exercise.

My pair came from Giant Tiger and were around forty-five dollars. While they certainly aren’t top of the line, alas, I am just a beginner and they suit me just fine. So if you’re looking for an inexpensive pass time, I would definitely recommend it.

I’m fortunate enough to live on the water. We plowed a huge ice rink. While weather conditions haven’t been quite conducive yet, I’m looking forward to testing my skates out. It’s a great way to get outside and perhaps practice your slap shot. I’m keeping my eyes open for a hockey stick and net. While I never really fared well playing hockey, it’s nice to have time to practice.

My mom and I have been venturing out for long walks. It’s low key and a relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re wandering around the neighbourhood or enjoying a local trail. It’s great social time to enjoy with family and friends.

I encourage you to get out there and take in the winter weather! The fresh air and sunshine will do you good. There’s nothing better than exploring in your own backyard.
