KAWARTHA LAKES: The newly merged Haliburton, Kawartha, Northumberland, Peterborough (HKNP) Health Unit is going to be looking at options, next month, for how best to make their meetings available to the public and media.

At a meeting, on Thursday, January 16th, members voted to ask their staff to bring a report to the February 19th meeting with the different options.

For the first two meetings of the board, the health unit has used teleconference technology. One of the two merged health units, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR) livestreamed their meetings, previously, on YouTube.

“There are some technical aspects which have to be looked at in the meantime. This just came up, early this week,” Chair Ron Black explained. “Not every location we’re going to rotate through has the same technology.”

He also hinted at the possibility of a uniform approach to meetings, in every location they use.

The HKNP health unit is made up of HKPR and Peterborough Public Health.
