Movement for Life

by Lauren Walker

Stepping away from the crowd can be a challenging thing to do. I’ve learned having a healthy lifestyle means making better choices. People may not understand it, but to me, there’s no alternative. Here’s how I stay healthy and happy!

Quiet Time: While I’m at work, I’m admittedly extroverted. When I’m home, I enjoy my peace and quiet. I do not drink, smoke or stay out late. I’m usually in bed by 9:30 p.m. I need quiet time to recharge my mind and body. Mindful activities such as painting or writing are very important for my mental health.

Being In Tune with my Body: I know what it takes to keep my body and mind functioning optimally. Any deviation from that is disruptive to my system. I enjoy having the energy to complete all the activities I enjoy. It’s important to engage with life and be present. I do that by eating well, exercising and getting rest.

Eating Well: I love my food! Much like gas in a car, food is fuel for my body. Only the highest grade will do. Which is not to say I don’t enjoy a treat once in a while. I don’t eat out anymore because it doesn’t agree with me. I always seek to eat quality food so I can engage with my life with energy and clarity.

Exercise: My body is made to move. I do not sit very often in general. I exercise every single day. Movement doesn’t have to be intense; you just have to do a little something every day.

Here’s to living your best life!
