SCUGOG: In their lone game of the weekend, the MoJacks suffered a blowout loss at the hands of the Little Britain Merchants.
In a rare occurrence, the MoJacks spent Sunday, February 27th, at the Little Britain Community Centre rather than at Scugog Arena.
The game did not start off well for the MoJacks, as within the first five minutes of the first period, Little Britain had already scored twice.
Over halfway through the period, after Nick Chokrev-Cerpnjak took a hooking penalty and a ten-minute misconduct penalty, the Merchants capitalized on the power play, making it a 3-0 game. The Merchants added a goal late in the period, and the MoJacks were down 4-0 after 20 minutes of play.
The MoJacks would spend the next two periods being heavily outshot by the Merchants. Shots were 19 to 7 in the second period and 21 to 9 in the third period. The grand total saw the Merchants outshoot the MoJacks 52 to 27.
Nearly seven minutes into the second period, the Merchants extended the deficit to 5-0 with a goal. But, with a little over two minutes left on the second-period clock, the MoJacks got some hope when Marcus Arabe scored, making it a 5-1 game. Late in the period, the MoJacks pulled the goalie off the ice to get the extra attacker on, trying to capitalize on their recent momentum. But, the Merchants would score on the empty net with only 17 seconds left in the period, restoring the five-goal deficit.
Neither team scored in the third period, and the MoJacks fell to the Merchants 6-1.
