SCUGOG: After a strong start to their season, the Port Perry Lumberjacks have taken a slight tumble of late, and are currently on a three-game losing skid.
The streak started with an 8-2 loss, at the hands of the Georgina Ice, at Scugog Arena, on Sunday, October 27th.
Then, on Saturday, November 2nd, the Lumberjacks visited Schomberg to take on the Cougars. Schomberg would score the only two goals of the first period, and led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes of play.
Then, just a minute and a half into the second period, the Cougars struck again, to make it a 3-0 game. Less than a minute later though, Austin Fata scored, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Yet, early four minutes in, the Cougars restored their three-goal lead with a goal. Nine and a half minutes in, Andrew Naccarato-Soule put the puck in the net, making it a 4-2 game. Just 24 seconds after that, Tommy Campbell scored his first goal of the year, to cut the deficit to a single goal. However, the Cougars would score late in the period and the Lumberjacks trailed 5-3, after 40 minutes of play.
The Cougars added a goal in the third period and defeated the Lumberjacks by a score of 6-3.
The next day, on Sunday, November 3rd, the Lumberjacks hosted the Little Britain Merchants, at Scugog Arena.
There would be no goals scored in the game until the second period. Twelve minutes in, the Merchants struck first, leading the game 1-0. Then, with just 13 seconds left on the clock, the Merchants scored again.
The Merchants would add two goals in the third period, including an empty net goal, and the Lumberjacks were shutout, by a score of 4-0. This is despite outshooting the Merchants in the second period (20 shots to 10) and the third period (11 shots to 8).
One Timers:
There is just one upcoming game on the schedule this weekend, for the Lumberjacks. They will host the Clarington Eagles in a special Remembrance Day game in support of the local Legion, at Scugog Arena, on Sunday, November 10th. That game will begin at 2:25 p.m.
