SCUGOG: The Port Perry LumberJacks’ 7th Skater program has quickly become one of the most exciting experiences for young hockey fans.

For just $200, the program offers children the chance to be a part of the action during a LumberJacks game, with perks which include a team-signed jersey, admission tickets, and the chance to skate alongside the players.

Abby Knight, 10, and her younger sister Evie Knight, 8, were fortunate to be part of the program, during two memorable games. Abby’s experience took place in December, when she participated in the Wooly Toss game, an annual event where fans throw winter clothing donations onto the ice for local charities. Abby had the unique opportunity to collect the donations, alongside the LumberJacks players. “It was such a fun experience,” Abby said. “I loved being out there on the ice with the players, helping collect all the clothes. It made me feel like I was part of the team and doing something good for the community.”

Evie’s moment in the spotlight came on Sunday, January 26th, when she skated in the starting lineup, for the LumberJacks’ 12-2 victory over the Little Britain Merchants. Evie was thrilled to be on the ice with the team before the game and to stand on the blue line with the players during O Canada. “It was amazing,” Evie said. “I’ve always dreamed of being on the ice with the LumberJacks, and it finally happened. I was excited to skate out with the team.”

The 7th Skater package includes several exclusive perks which make it a truly unforgettable experience. In addition to the team-signed LumberJacks jersey, participants receive five admission tickets to the game and get to dress in the team’s locker room with the players. They also have the chance to skate in the starting lineup before the game and stand with the team for O Canada.

General Manager, Tom Parish is proud of the program and its positive impact on the community. “The 7th Skater program is something we’re really excited about,” Parish said. “It’s a great way for young fans to feel connected to the team and experience the game in a way that’s truly special. The smiles on the kids’ faces, when they get to be part of the starting lineup or skate with the players, are priceless. It’s an experience they’ll never forget.”

Assistant Captain, Cameron Marshall also spoke about the program’s impact. “It’s always a lot of fun to have the kids out there with us,” Marshall said. “They bring so much energy and excitement to the rink. It’s a reminder of how important our fans are and how much they look up to us. Being able to share that moment with them is really special for the whole team.”

With just three home games remaining, in the 2024-25 regular season, the opportunity to be a 7th Skater is one fans won’t want to miss. For more information or to purchase the package, fans can email the LumberJacks, at pplumberjacks@gmail.com.
