KAWARTHA LAKES: Kent Bookstore in Lindsay will be hosting a book launch this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The book is titled ‘More surprising & intriguing things about old Victoria County.’
Rae Fleming, the book’s editor and one of a dozen contributors, shared with The Standard that, “The book has 17 chapters on subjects such as general stores, architecture, a 19th-century newspaper owner and editor, Orange parades, migration from Holland to Victoria County in the 1950s, Prairie harvesters from this area who went to Saskatchewan in the 1920s to bring in the wheat, and so on. It is richly illustrated and sells for $25. It is a follow-up to an earlier version called ‘Looking for old Victoria County.’
