Kawartha Lakes Public Library has a circle of writers for adults to come and share their writing. You can come out and share short stories, poetry, novels, memoirs, children's books, fiction, or nonfiction. This is a welcoming and supportive group of peers. All genres and skill levels are welcome. For more information, contact the library at 705-324-9411 extension 1291. This event will take place Saturday, March 29th, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The address is 190 Kent Street, West, Lindsay.

Come out to a fun chilli cook-off at the Pentecostal Church in Beaverton. Make your homemade chili and bring it out for people to try. You'll also get some great socializing. This will take place on March 29th at 5:30 p.m. Kick off the night with some live music. The address is 1355 Thorah Concession Road 1.

Come out to the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival on April 5th and 6th, 2025 this will be the 28th year this well-loved event attracts visitors from Toronto and all of Durham region. The festival offers great opportunities to celebrate Canadian maple syrup. Bring the children to see the petting zoo and pony rides, there will be a live stage with entertainment. Shoppers can shop in the arena, and vendors will sell everything from syrup to toys. From 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., there will be the Legion line dancers. The pancake breakfast will be at the Sunderland Legion with indoor and outdoor tables from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be barbecued burgers, hot dogs, and peameal bacon on a bun. The Wildlife Rescue will be there at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Hop on a bus and travel to the Sugar Shack, where you will see a native and Pioneer display.
