KAWARTHA LAKES: The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR) is launching a new way for residents to update their immunization information.

On Monday, August 12th, the local health unit announced the launch of an online immunization update portal.

“With the school year fast approaching, it's crucial that children are up to date with all their vaccinations. Ensuring all vaccinations are current is vital for the health of our community,” Marianne Rock, Manager of HKPR’s Health Protection Division said, in an emailed statement. “We have gone from having over 6000 students overdue at the beginning of the 2023/24 school year to currently having just over 1500 students overdue under the ISPA in the district area. Keeping immunizations up to date not only protects your child but also supports overall community health.”

The portal can be accessed online by going to hkpr.on.ca/Immunization. The local health unit stated “ensuring immunizations are up to date not only protects your child but also helps prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in our community.”

The health unit is also offering clinics for parents to get their children caught up on immunizations. There will be one in Port Hope, Campbellford, Lindsay and in Haliburton. The Lindsay clinic will be held on Thursday, August 29th at the health unit’s Lindsay office at 108 Angeline Street East. It will run from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and then 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Other than the website, immunization information can also be updated by calling 1-866-888-4577 extension 1507 or by faxing records to 905-885-5352.
