On Friday, December 13th, The Bomb and their ‘Retro ‘80s Live Experience’ are continuing their tradition of wrapping up a year of touring with some pre-holiday cheer at Port Perry’s 1873 Town Hall Theatre!
For fans of ‘80s hits (and the decade of new wave) who have not had the opportunity to enjoy The Bomb – Retro ‘80s Live Experience before, just imagine that one band recorded all your favorite radio anthems, and on December 13th, that band is going to perform all those hits live, at Port’s own Town Hall Theatre!
Unlike other touring tributes that pay homage to one particular artist, The Bomb (www.thebomblive.com) pay tribute to the entire decade of ‘80s new wave rock hits. From Bowie to A-Ha, The Cure and The Cars, U2, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode and Duran, the lads pull all the hits into a cohesive musical package and deliver it with enthusiasm, exuberance and energy!
It truly is, “The Soundtrack of your Youth”…Live!
For those who experienced the packed show last year, or have seen The Bomb’s Retro ‘80s Live show elsewhere, the guys hope to see you back, with a whole bunch of friends and with your cellphone lights activated and shining at the stage! The full dance floor and the standing ovation last year were indeed humbling for the band members and they hope to make everyone just as happy at this year’s event.
2024 was a big year for this touring ‘80s tribute and it took the group all over Ontario. From a couple of appearances at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Orono, to Toronto, Belleville, Picton, Niagara, Kingston, Woodstock and many stops in between, it is clear that Retro ‘80s fans are, (to quote Simple Minds), Alive and Kicking!
One of Port Perry’s own, The Bomb’s singer and co-producer Rob Van Der Vleuten (who also adds layers of synth and guitar to the live show) is happy to announce that the December 13th show will be once again partnering with Pickles and Olives on Water Street. Ticketholders who hit Pickles and Olives on the evening of the show for a bite and a pre or post-show drink, will be happy to find a couple of dedicated show specials, AND a free signature shooter aptly called, The Retro Blast!
Also in the works is partnering with a local craft brewer so that The Bomb’s ‘80s fans can enjoy an adult beverage (or two) while enjoying the show and the historic charm and ambiance of The 1873 Town Hall Theatre.
Speaking of keeping things local, the show’s co-producer and bassist/programmer Shaun Gillespie was born and raised in Whitby and attended Henry Street High School along with drummer/programmer Jamie Pugh. Last but not least, guitrist Constantine Gatsis hails from Pickering. With all their roots in the Durham Region, it is no wonder that the lads feel like they are ‘coming home’ when they step back on the stage in Port Perry!
