Gratitude isn't all about what's going right. It's about finding a little light in the moment we feel loss/lost

It seems like the world is full of chaos, from widespread disease to possible economic collapse. However, there are tools to help us with stress, depression, anxiety, and overall life dissatisfaction.
Gratitude is a perspective, and is about recognizing the richness in our everyday experiences and where they come. I truly believe that by practising gratitude, we can experience a multitude of positive effects on our mental and social well-being. The simple practice uplifts our spirits and aligns us with a more positive and purposeful orientation in life.
In Hebrews 11:6, scripture says, "Now without faith it is impossible to please God," ISV. What then comes to mind is, "a double minded person should expect nothing from God".(paraphrase James 1:7&8) This singleness of perspective is important or we vacillate and struggle, allowing anxiety to unsettle us. Another word for this singleness is rest, rest in God.
When I was younger and experiencing medical problems, regarding several miscarriages and infertility issues, I mentioned to my then-physician, I trusted God. My physician, who was well respected, was surprised when I told him I would become a mother one day because God told me so. The odds, given to me by professionals, were only three percent, regarding carrying a baby safely to full term and surviving. Those of you who know me understand I myself was one of those unlikely statistics.
My goal, of becoming a mother, was a lifelong dream, one which many little girls have. The doctor, upon hearing this, suggested I see a man in a white coat, a psychiatrist. Yes, he was that out of touch with the way things work, in this part of life! Training is one thing but sticking your head in the sand is another.
I believe a reasonable person concludes, there is a God, as the faith and compassion witnessed to me by my mother lead me towards this path. Psalm 119:105 (KJV paraphrase) says, "God's word is a lamp unto our feet." It can lead us through pain and hardship to receive God's intended blessings and Salvation.
Does this sound too simple? This word from God, about my having children, eventually helped me experience these special moments in life. I had two daughters. Like every word in the Bible, it led me to deeper fulfillment, joy and connection.
Being open and practising gratitude helps us to greater appreciate the bigger and smaller moments in life. When one embraces gratitude, we are able to embrace abundance all around us and celebrate life's simple joys.
