Epsom & Utica news

How did you survive the ice storm? On a farm, work must go on. Rob was plugging the alternator up to the box on the pole at 3:30 a.m. With the milking to do, cows needing water, more feed from silos to get out and the milk truck late and milking again at 4 p.m., the generator ran until 6:30 p.m. when the hydro was repaired for us. We learned on Monday morning that many areas around us are still without hydro. Sometimes, we think our jobs are the pits, but I kept thinking of all the workers out in that slippery weather repairing all those dangerous and downed hydro lines and poles. Thank you to all who worked through the night to give all of us hydro as soon as possible.

An invitation to attend an informative Canadian Foodgrains Bank meeting at a Mennonite church in Markham on Friday verified how devastating the cancelling of the USAID program is to aid around the world; so many programs have already been wiped out. The Epsom area Canadian Foodgrains Bank Project committee is preparing for this year's planting and we are challenged to give more if possible.

A "Pot Luck" breakfast has been planned at Epsom church at 9 a.m. for visiting, breakfast at 9:30 a.m., on Good Friday morning, April 18th. Please accept this invitation to attend this worthy project and help the needy around the world. Church at Epsom United Church this Sunday, April 6th, is at 10:30 a.m. with fellowship to follow.
