January hasn't disappointed! It has been very winter-like, cold, snowy, and windy, too. Last Monday was the full moon, which brightened our evening once again—the Wolf Moon. We are now past halfway through the month. That wasn't so bad, was it?
Happy birthday, and Happy special day to all celebrating in January. We have three grandchildren who celebrate this month; I'm sure you also know someone. Help them enjoy their day.
Our community wants to express its gratitude to all the volunteers, groups, and businesses who made the Festival of Lights at Elgin Park in Uxbridge so magical for the thousands of people who experienced it.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Port Perry who delivered Christmas meals to seniors in our community. The meal and trimmings were delicious, and the added surprises were extra special. Thank You.
The musical groups who delivered beautiful harmonies for our Christmas enjoyment were a pleasure to attend, as was Leah Daniel and Friends Christmas Special, who brought Nashville-like entertainment right to our doorstep.
Among all these amazing happenings, many families have experienced the passing of a loved one. This past Saturday, The Fulford/Lehane families said goodbye to John, who passed away far too soon in life's circle.
On Sunday, January 12th, the family of Ted Gordon held a celebration of life for Ted at the Sunderland Legion; he was a real farmer throughout his life.
Last Friday the Evans family shared with Family and Friends the life of Floyd Evans at Low and Low Uxbridge. Floyd was a dedicated farmer, and in retirement, he used his carpentry skills, which he gained from farming, to create amazing pieces of wood art.
Floyd was one of the founders of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank Project for Epsom and the area. He travelled to several countries that benefited from the project's proceeds.
The Geer Family will hold a celebration of life for Linda Kendry. at Sunderland Legion on Sunday, January 26th from 1 to 3 p.m. Linda was such a creative person, sharing one of her talents in the Port Perry Star a few years back. I'm sure more readers than I have clipped and enjoyed her recipes printed there. Our deepest sympathy to all the families who have a void left in their family and we too will miss them.
Rev. Edith Ann will minister this Sunday at Epsom United Church at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments following the service.
