Epsom & Utica news

By Faye Ashton

What an amazing stretch of perfect weather we have experienced. Finally, the oaks and maples are showing us their beautiful autumn colours, which we doubted was going to happen.

We are all eagerly anticipating another super moon when November's full moon (beaver) appears on November 15th, as predicted by Google. It's a celestial event that we can all look forward to experiencing together.

We have two very sad notes to share with our readers. Our deepest sympathy to the Evans and Hockley families. Wayne Hockley, son of Allan and Doris (Evans) Hockley, passed away suddenly as a result of cancer. Wayne was in the prime of life at age 60, and he leaves a wife, three adult children and grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to grieve his passing.

This morning, we received the heartbreaking news that Bill Anderson had quietly passed away. Bill and the Anderson family, who lived on the 7th Concession (Medd) Road for many years before moving to the Lindsay area, were an integral part of our community. Bill's exceptional knowledge of machinery and his ability to fix anything made him a best friend to many of us. He shared his life with Deanna (2014 passed), her children Lisa and David and their families. We will all miss such a talented friend and the basic knowledge he shared with anyone needing help.

Rev Edith Ann will be back at Epsom United Church this Sunday to resume her ministry with us at 10:30 a.m. Join the congregation for worship and fellowship afterward.
