Rain, Rain, go away, come again another day so we can actually get some farming done. I feel wherever you live the amount of rain will tally different as we watched the black clouds and thunder rumble all around us on Sunday.

How can it be we’re past the middle of August?

The township fairs are on the near horizon with the Port Perry fair just two weeks away and the Uxbridge fair the second weekend of September.

This coming Weekend, the Autofest National Car Show will be held in Elgin Park, Uxbridge for the first time. It has been at the Lake Shore in Oshawa for many years. Don’t miss Leah Daniel and Ben Hudson who will be performing on Saturday evening. Get your tickets now, they are awesome entertainers.

Our grandson Carter is headed back to North Bay today to get prepared for his second year of digital cinematography course, and that means many other students are getting prepared from kindergarten to university for another year of learning.

I enjoyed attending Harder’s turn to reveal how hard our ancestors worked with the machinery available to them. An old steam engine was used to power the thrashing machine. The thrashing of the wheat garnered a lot of attention.

Over the past couple of weeks, a coyote has boldly visited us in broad daylight, taking with him or her several of our chickens.

A team of Durham West 4-Hers travelled to Wellington Ontario to compete in the Region 3 Go for the Gold competition. It involved two teams vying to answer questions based on the 4-H program. Our team competed very well against teams from Northumberland, Prince Edward, Kawartha Lakes and Durham East counties and came out on top of the competition. Jackso and Ethan Powell, Emily Phillips and Hayley Ashton will represent Region 3 at the Royal Winter Fair in November.

This Sunday is the last of the summer church services at Glen Major with David Morley. He is a worldwide leader and speaker who will be sharing his story at Church at 7 p.m.
