Epsom & Utica news

by Faye Ashton

Reminder: for all those who are able to attend our biennial decoration service this year, we look forward to seeing you next Sunday, June 9th, at 2 p.m. at the Utica United Church. For those unable to attend this year, we hope to see you June 14th, 2026.

Wishing you health and happiness, Pat Kerry. Our community was saddened when word was received of the passing of Marie Geer on Tuesday, May 27th. Marie grew up in the beautiful house where Century Garden is now. When Marie married Bruce Geer, they made their home on the Geer farm in Utica, raised four boys, and farmed the land but saved time for fun, too. Marie’s family was the recipient of some of her many talents of baking, knitting, crocheting, and needle point. The funeral for Marie was held on Friday, May 31st. Our sincere sympathy to sons Dave and Randy and their families and to Marie’s sisters, Ruby, Joyce and Isabelle, and family.

Word was received that a devastating fire destroyed the home of Jimmy Powell, Argyle (son of Art and Elly) early Monday morning last week. Dar, Pat and Tom visited on Saturday, bringing goodies and kind thoughts for Jimmy and their family.

We all wish a speedy recovery to Darlene Christie as a result of a fall which bruised her severely. Heal quickly Dar.

A reminder of the celebration of life for Tom and Joan Anderson at Cresswell Presbyterian Church, Cresswell, Ontario, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8th.

Congratulations to Tiffany Meek and Mack Green, who were married at the bride's home, north of Epsom, on Saturday, June 1st. Wishing Tiffany and Mack a lifetime of love and happiness from the community.
