This week during Advent we celebrated peace. We are privileged to view our former ministers’ Alex Jebsons’ message from Brussels-Blythe United Church. Rev. Stephanie’s messages from Greenbank-Seagrave and Rev. Don’s message from Port Perry-Prince Albert United Church. We are thankful to each of these churches.
Our sincere sympathy to Elizabeth Taylor’s Family on her passing on December 1st in her 97th year. Elizabeth, Earl and Family came to live on Medd Road in the mid 70s. Their willing hands became active in the community and church immediately. Since Earls’ passing Elizabeth has lived at Port Perry Villa from the day it opened, joining in all it’s activities. Elizabeth was a very knowledgeable lady and artistically talented in painting and story writing and full of wit and charm. We will truly miss Elizabeth.
Our grand daughter Hayley was overjoyed this past week when she received an envelope from Port Perry High School. It was hard on the grade 12 graduates because of Covid19 but she was so excited to receive her high school diploma. She made the Honour roll and the Ontario Scholar list. She also received her technology Certificate, the Youngfield Family Farm Award and the Port Perry Rotary Jim Grieve Memorial Scholarship. To all the students who waited for their year end results, congratulations. Please let this community know your accomplishments too.
The Epsom Church is festively decorated for the Christmas season even though we’re not back in the sanctuary, for worship each Sunday. The church will be open on Christmas Eve from 4 to 9:30 p.m. as a small Christmas service will be shown continually during that time. The community is welcome to come and sit awhile.
Remember the reason for the season, stay safe and keep well.
