EPSOM & UTICA by Faye Ashton

I hope everyone was able to enjoy this Christmas Season and New Years. We all missed being with family and friends but with modern day technology and a young person who knows how to use it, many were able to zoom with family and enjoy being together for a short while.

I know many farmers were very elated to have fairly mild temperatures during the Christmas and New Year’s time. The worry of having to thaw pipes and water bowls and starting tractors for feeding along with all the rest of chores was very welcome.

As we enter the New Year, we wish everyone a love filled 2021. The Epsom church was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Thank you to Ericka and Beth Wilson for arranging a come and go service for Christmas Eve, to Tom Armstrong for getting it up and running, to Hayden Kerry’s angelic Christmas solo and Doug Ferris for preparing a very meaningful message, preparing us for the birth of Jesus.

We were privileged to view on Facebook the marriage of our grandson Donavon Ashton and Ashlin Wetter of Wisconsin, on December 22nd. A very beautiful wedding ceremony took place at the bride’s home.

We were very saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of Barry Bushell on December 22nd. Our deepest sympathy to his wife Lois, daughters Linda and Lori and granddaughter Alexis. Barry is well known in our community and the Uxbridge and Port Perry area, having worked in retail in both Uxbridge and Port, since retiring from Bell Canada. We love you and will miss you, for it’s really hard to say goodbye during this covid time.

Our sincere condolence to Tom Anderson and family on the passing of his Wife Joan on January 1st. Tom lived on Medd Road for 30 some years before he and Joan moved to Oakwood in the late seventies. Our prayers go to each of you at this sad time.

The school students are back to online learning because of the escalating numbers of covid-19, and the elementary students are back to school next week unless changes have to be made.
