Easter spirit returning to Port Perry

SCUGOG: The Port Perry community is once again invited to show their Easter pride later this month, with the return of the Easter Bonnet Contest and the Easter Egg Hunt.

Both events will be held on Sunday, March 31st. Registration for the Bonnet contest will begin at 11:30 a.m., in front of the RBC bank, on Queen Street, with the event beginning at Noon, in front of the Port Perry Post Office. Registration will be by free will donation.

The Bonnet contest is annually put on by Church Chicks United, and this year 100 percent of funds raised will go to Operation Scugog. All participants in the event will receive a ribbon and a treat.

Some of the bonnet categories include: Easter Spirit for children four years and under and between five to fifteen years, Loveliest Bonnet on Queen Street, Best Grandparent and Grandchild, Most Delicious and Most Charming Chapeau.

This event is open to children, aged three to seven, with separate age groups being called to run along Queen Street, in search of coloured eggs, to win a prize.

“Every hunter leaves with a goodie bag from The Nutty Chocolatier. Some eggstra fortunate hunters, who find a special item in their bag, will win a larger chocolate prize,” read a Facebook post for the Easter event.
