Durham police lay charges against Scugog man for intimate partner violence

SCUGOG: The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) have charged a 46-year-old Scugog man following an investigation into intimate partner violence.

A DRPS press release explained the investigation began on May 30th after “a series of violent incidents involving two parties involved in an intimate relationship.”

“During the investigation, it was learned that the male violently assaulted the female causing injuries to her face and neck, at which time the Intimate Partner Violence Unit took over the investigation,” the release adds.

The suspect was then seen at a hotel on Thursday, June 5th where he fled on foot from officers but was found by the police service’s K9 unit.

The 46 year-old man, whose name won’t be identified to protect the victim, is facing two counts of spousal assault, as well as charges of uttering threats of death or bodily harm, harassment by means of repeated telecommunications, choking, suffocating or strangling and publishing an intimate image without consent.

It knows no boundaries and can impact people of all ages, genders, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
