COVID-19 postpones MoJacks prospect camp

DAN CEARNS Local Journalism Initiative Reporter

SCUGOG: COVID-19 restrictions have put the Port Perry MoJacks’ prospect evaluation process on hold for the time being. “Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have been forced to postpone our Spring [prospect] Camp,” a post on the Port Perry MoJacks’ website read. The MoJacks had scheduled to begin their prospect camp in early May, but the current COVID-19 situation has delayed that. Even so, the MoJacks are still moving forward with recruiting players for next season. “Although we are not able to host a spring camp, the recruitment process for the 2020-21 season is still in full effect. We are still accepting camp applications from players interested in joining our club for the upcoming season,” the post on the website stated. For more information on how to apply, visit ohaportperry.pointstreaksites.com or email mojacksportperry@gmail.com. MoJacks general manager Tom Parish gave The Standard an update on when they expect to move forward with an evaluation camp. “We intend to hold a camp as soon a the OHF [Ontario Hockey Federation] allows it. With everything being up in the air with the virus, we just don’t have any idea when that will end up being,” he wrote in an email. “If the virus shuts down public spaces through most of the summer, we will hope to have our main camp at the end of August as normal. It truly is a take it one day at a time situation.”
