SCUGOG: This year, the Fore Scugog Charity Golf Tournament, considered an autumn event, will be held on Thursday, September 15th, at Sunnybrae Gold Club in Prince Albert.
This year’s full event includes; a barbecue lunch, 18 holes of golf with power cart, dinner, a silent auction and more.
“All the proceeds raised go to Scugog youth initiatives,” explained, assistant to the mayor and CAO, Lisa Fitton.
Some of the programs this event has helped support include Port Perry Skating Clubs and Big Brothers Big Sisters North Durham, an annual bursary program at Port Perry High School.
The Township did not host the Fore Scugog Charity Golf Tournament during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Admission is $150 per golfer and $560 for a foursome. Although the number of participants varies from year to year, this year 70 golfers are expected. “We welcome as many [participants] as we can,” explained Ms. Fitton.
There is no age limit for who can compete in the Tournament. In the past, there have been a few players who have joined the tournament in a family, and their children have competed. “We certainly encourage [youth participation],” added Ms. Fitton.
