BROCK: The Township of Brock is nominating resident Bill Davis for the Ontario Senior of the Year award.
The decision was made at a meeting on Monday, May 31st. According to a memorandum from deputy clerk Maralee Drake, the annual award “gives each municipality in Ontario the opportunity to honour one outstanding local Ontarian, who after the age of 65 has enriched the social, cultural or civic life of his or her community.”
Ward 5 Councillor Lynn Campbell explained why Mr. Davis was nominated for the award.
“For many years, he’s been a volunteer with the Sunderland Legion. He’s the current president [of the Sunderland Legion branch]. He also delivers Meals on Wheels and participates in the seniors’ luncheons we all enjoyed pre-Covid. He’s just an all-around good community citizen. I think he would do Brock proud to be an Ontario Senior of the Year award recipient,” she said.
Ward 4 Councillor Cria Pettingill agreed Mr. Davis was the best choice for this award, describing him as “an awfully wonderful person.”
