Congratulations to local residents Alyssa Carnaghan, daughter of Luke and Jenny Carnaghan, and to Doug Kadowaki for being recognized at the 2024 Scugog Sports Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday evening, April 25th.
Alyssa, a Gr. 10 student at Port Perry High School (PPHS), excels in gymnastics, track, and running at the regional and provincial levels.
Doug has been, for many years, instrumental in keeping Blackstock Curling on the ice. The Blackstock Curling Club was also recognized for its 75th Anniversary.
Marilyn Pearce, on behalf of the Lake Scugog Historical Society, offered a few stories from information gleaned from past minute books. It was a wonderful evening organized by the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame Committee with the help of generous sponsors, donors, volunteers, and the recreation staff of the Township of Scugog. Well done!
Just a reminder of the Blackstock-Nestleton United Church’s Plant and Boot Sale next Saturday, May 4th in the Church parking lot. Donations of perennials, house plants, small trees, shrubs, etc are most welcome. Please contact Kelly Gatchell by phone at 905-986-4917 for more information.
A big thank you to people who have taken the initiative to pick up garbage from our roadsides and ditches over the past few weeks. Although Earth Day was April 22nd, for all of us it should be every day.
