The Durham Soil and Crop Improvement Association held a dinner in Blackstock on Friday night at the Recreation Centre. Catered to by Mary Evans, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner.

The first schedule of curling has finished with the final standings as follows: 1st Team Larmer (Craig Larmer, Brigid Fisher, Tom Hooker, Kristin Hooker), 2nd Team Kadowaki (Doug Kadowaki, Candace/Russell Daigle, Angie Fairfield, Bryan Fairfield,), and 3rd Team Bailey (Steve Bailey, Tara Frew, Zeke Bailey, Drew Bailey). All the curlers have enjoyed the change to 6-end games and we have been pleased with the increase in our membership.

There was good attendance at last week's Annual General Meeting and Potluck of the Blackstock Agricultural Society. Donna Kyte gave an interesting report on the history of the ONO (Our Night Out) Club, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Presentations by Theatre on the Ridge were excellent and depicted interesting stories from the history of Blackstock and the surrounding area. They are putting on three plays this summer at the Museum, and I encourage you to attend at least one.

Earle Trewin was recognized as a new Honourary Director of the Board in recognition of his many years of service to not only the Fair but also the Truck and Tractor Pull. His 'Killer Alice' was always the highlight of the Tractor Pull, and many years ago, he started the pedal tractor pull at the Fair for kids to have fun at! I believe we now have second-generation children enthusiastically signing up for that event on the day of the Fair. Congratulations Earle.
