Blackstock news

By Janet Van Camp

St. John’s Cemetery on Edgerton Road is holding a memorial service on Sunday, September 8th at 2:30 p.m. at the cemetery. Paul Arculus will also be doing a history walk. In case of rain, the service will be held at the Blackstock United Church.

Both soccer and baseball have wrapped up their seasons at Cartwright Fields. A huge thank you to the organizers and coaches who helped so many kids learn how to play the game, how to be a team member, and how to both win and lose. Those are important life skills!

Blackstock Fair had great weather and excellent attendance. People enjoyed seeing the many entries displayed in both the Recreation Centre and the Arena, the various vendors at the Farm Market, the horse pull, presentations by Theatre on the Ridge as well as an Agricultural display put out by the Lake Scugog Historical Society, and livestock shows. Kids World continued to be popular and the entertainment was excellent. The Demolition Derby and The Steven Waters Band concluded a fine day. A huge thank you to the Blackstock Agricultural Society for their hard work in organizing this day.
