Tracy Pastic, Bakersville
SCUGOG: Bakersville, the Animated Gingerbread Village is returning once again to the Scugog Memorial Public Library this December! This has always been a very popular event in our community and if you have ever wanted to enter a creation, now is your chance. To make the village authentic, we ask that the entries be made of gingerbread, no battery-operated accessories and please try to keep the base size relative to the creation. If you want illumination inside your creation, we suggest that you leave a small opening at the back or underneath, to allow for one of our small electrical lights. Anyone can submit an entry and there is no fee and is a non-judged event. Kits are welcome, but original designs are what make the village truly unique. So, check out where flour is on sale, gather up all of the left-over Halloween candy and start baking!
Bring your entry to the library Monday, December 2nd to Thursday, December 5th inclusive during operating hours.
Each building should have a title and a registration form is available to be filled in: there is no entry fee.
It is really helpful if the bases are white. We suggest covering foil paper with shredded cotton balls or artificial snow. No need to further accessorize with figurines and trees etc., our “elves” look after that!
Then, make sure to come to the library during the holiday season, starting Saturday, December 7th to see the spectacular animated display! There is no admission fee.
The Bakersville Animated Gingerbread Village runs until Sunday, January 5th.
Library Hours: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday: 1pm-5pm. Closed on the following days for holiday observances: December 24-26 and January 1st; December 31st closing at 5 p.m.
