Are you interested in joining the Compliance Audit Committee?

COURTNEY McCLURE The Standard

NORTH DURHAM: Scugog, Brock and Uxbridge townships are looking for interested persons willing to join the Compliance Audit Committee, for the 2022 Municipal Election.

The Compliance Audit Committee for the 2022 Municipal Election will consist of three members. These members will serve all three municipalities (Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge) for the municipal election term, starting on November 15, 2022 to November 14, 2026. In an ideal case, one member out of three should be from each municipality.

The committee’s purpose is to review campaign applications. These applications include information related to the campaign finances of the municipal election candidates or any registered third-party advertisers.

These considerations are being taken into account regarding possible committee members.

You must be able to understand and apply the election campaign finance provisions of the Municipal Act.

Preference may be given to perspective committee members with a background in accounting, law and law enforcement.

Please note the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, doesn’t allow members of Council, local boards, municipal staff from these three townships, election candidates or registered third party advertisers to serve on the committee.

The townships are asking interested people to submit a written expression of interest and resume, by January 28th, 2022, before 4:30 p.m. Although the post was created by the Uxbridge Township, via Facebook, applications and resumes will not be accepted through this social media platform.

Please contact your local municipality if you wish to send in your application and resume. For more information and the contact information of your respective municipal clerk, please visit Uxbridge.ca.
