BRIAN BATES,

Special to The Standard

SCUGOG: After falling short in the preliminary rounds, Port Perry Angels U15 – Team Azzolin advanced to the B championship, after defeating the Port Perry Angels – Ragoo team and Palmerston, to earn the Gold.

The girls, overall, had a successful weekend giving it their all, finishing with a 500 record, winning three and losing four, while going undefeated in the B championship. Strong pitching by Kaley Doerfler and Kaitlyn Hancock, backstopped by Julia Stewart, aided by steady defence from Erin Correa, Ava Marshell and Joclynn Jeffery, allowed Port to continue their medal ways, now at two Gold and one Silver in three tournaments entered to date.

The coaching staff is now setting the team’s sites for their next tournament, in Montreal, which the coaches feel will be their biggest test.

Congratulations to all the team members. Keep up your winning ways.
