KAWARTHA LAKES: Lindsay net minder Ben Edwards kept things close for two periods but in the Cobourg Cougars topped the Muskies by a score of 6 to 0.
The Cougars came out hard in the first firing 19 shots at Edwards in the Lindsay goal but Jacob Gilbert was the only player to put one past him. The goal came on a power play at 16:25.
The two teams had a much more even second period as far as shots go and it looked like the game would head into the second intermission still with just one goal, but Gilbert picked up his second of the night with just 1:51 left on the clock to put the Fish down by two.
The Cougars were able to put things away in the third racking up four goals. T.J. Koufis scored at 5:39, then Jacob Campbell made it 4 to 0 at 9:10. Kenny Styles would add a pair of goals as the period wound down to finish out the scoring.
The next action for Lindsay is Tuesday night in Georgetown.
