The Ontario Government is investing in a local Port Perry school with new child care spaces. Today, MPP Lindsey Park announced in a news release that the Ontario government is investing in a Port Perry school by creating new child care spaces.
The province has given Durham Catholic District School Board approval to tender a child care addition to Good Shepherd Catholic School. The $2.4 million investment will add a new quality learning environment for young children at the school. This project is part of the province’s capital investment program to build more child care spaces for Ontario’s families.
“This child care addition at Good Shepherd Catholic School will mean more child care options for Scugog families,” said Lindsey Park, MPP for Durham. “This investment along with the CARE tax credit will provide choice and flexibility for families in Scugog looking for child care.”
“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of the child care addition to Good Shepherd Catholic School, further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and child care spaces, as well as our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”
Good Shepherd Catholic School is located at 1650 Reach Street, in Port Perry. Highlights of the child care addition include: 73 new child care spaces and 4 new child care rooms.
“Thank you to the province of Ontario for investing in child care spaces in our schools. The creation of licensed child care spaces offers a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow from infancy into school-age years,” said Tracy Barill, Director of Education, Durham Catholic District School Board. “This is a welcome addition for the Good Shepherd Catholic School community and the Township of Scugog.”
