Lakeside Medical Aesthetics is a medical aesthetics clinic in Port Perry offering safe, tasteful, top-of-the-line treatments, by Dr. Andrea Gauster.
“Our philosophy is not to change how you look but to enhance your natural beauty. There is an anti-aging aspect to it, but our treatments also incorporate general facial rejuvenation and skincare. Our goal is to improve people’s self-esteem and maintain a very body-positive atmosphere,” shared Dr. Gauster.
They offer injectable treatments for the face and neck, like Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers, prescription lash-enhancing treatments and medical-grade skincare options.
People don’t have to commit to getting a treatment after speaking with Dr. Gauster. They can just book a consultation to get information. Dr. Gauster strives to educate her patients about the process, so they know more about it and feel empowered in their decision to get an aesthetic treatment, start a new skincare regime, or not.
“Neuromodulators like Botox work really well to reduce and even prevent wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid filler is used to add volume and contour back to the face. It can also augment the lips and other areas. Some products are actually able to reduce acne scarring and fill deeper lines and wrinkles as well.”
The effects of Botox can last up to four months, depending on the person. Over time, the muscles of the face can be retrained, so many need less and less product as the years go on.
In terms of safety, Botox can be used indefinitely (regularly every three to four months) because the medication washes out of the body and does not accumulate.
Dermal fillers are a really effective non-surgical way to re-contour and re-volumize the face. They can also be used to improve facial symmetry. As we age, our natural hyaluronic acid and collagen stores start to deplete, our bones become smaller, and our fat pads lose volume. This leads to thinner and frailer skin which wrinkles more easily and can sag, as well as decreased volume and structure to the face. Fillers typically last 6 to 18 months depending on the product.
Medical grade skincare is another excellent option, both on its own and in combination with injectables, to improve skin quality, visibly reduce the signs of aging, and create smoother, more hydrated, and healthy appearing skin.
Depending on the procedure, Dr. Gauster’s treatments are usually about 10 to 60 minutes long, with very little downtime. Most people are able to return to whatever they were doing 10 minutes after their visit.
“We are using hand hygiene, appropriate PPE, and sterilization of all relevant equipment etc., in the same way we would for any medical patient. I work as an obstetrician and emergency medicine physician in a hospital and have quite a large family practice. I use the identical procedures for my aesthetic patients as I would for anyone else. Safety is my absolute top priority,” she said in regards to covid-19 protocols.
Andrea’s passion for medical aesthetics comes from her desire to integrate creativity and artistry within her medical practice. “I’ve always been a creative person who loved science. This, in combination with my knack for procedural skills, made it a perfect fit. This has allowed me to integrate some creativity into my career,” she enthused, adding, “There is nowhere else I could have done it or would have wanted to do it. Port Perry is my community. I really wanted to offer these services and my expertise locally for this reason.”
